Play Ball!
Sometimes, you just have to get outside and play with your pals! On August 13 the NH Water Works Association’s Young Professionals hosted a friendly “Blue vs. Brown” softball game, followed by a family outing to watch the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. In the public water world, Blue stands for drinking water and Brown for wastewater; two inseparable halves of the system that makes modern life possible.
Water workers take their jobs extremely seriously, knowing that we provide critical public and environmental health services. Drinking water is treated from the source to the tap to ensure it meets the highest quality standards. Wastewater treatment removes countless contaminants before returning treated water to the environment. Given the ever-growing list of manmade chemicals that permeate society, treatment technologies at both ends of the pipe are increasingly complex and necessary.
Designing, building, operating, and regulating public water systems is a complex process that requires dedicated teams of professionals to ensure uninterrupted service at affordable costs. The first annual Blue vs. Brown softball game was a great example of how competitive-minded professionals of all ages, genders and backgrounds come together to “get ‘er done”.
Please ask the water professionals in your town about their work and how you can be part of your public water team. Don’t forget to thank them for their service!
