Presentation title:  Problem Hydric Soil Indicators

Abstract:  THE PROBLEM HYDRIC SOILS – There are some hydric soil indicators that are considered to be applicable to determination of wetness in problem soils.  In these cases, hydric soils exist that do not meet any of the currently listed national indicators.  The New England Hydric Soil Technical Committee has recognized certain soil morphologies that field experience suggest are indicative of a hydric soil.  These indicators may be used in problem wetland situations where evidence of wetland hydrology and hydrophytic vegetation is clearly present.  This presentation will discuss the interpretation and application of the indicators for problem hydric soils.
