NHWWA Young Professional of the Year Award

The NHWWA Young Professional of the Year Award recognizes a NHWWA Young Professional (age 40 or younger) for their outstanding contributions to the drinking water industry and involvement in NHWWA YP committees. This award aims to promote the accomplishments of the recipient by highlighting their achievements, service, innovation, leadership, and involvement in the organization. The recipient of the award is presented with a plaque and will be recognized in front of their peers for their accomplishments.

The recipient must be a NHWWA member in good standing for the last calendar year, and the recipient can receive the award once.

Congratulations to Sarah Jakositz on being named the 2025 NHWWA Young Professional of the Year! Sarah is an accomplished engineer, leader, and mentor who has made a meaningful impact on the drinking water industry through her technical expertise, innovation, and dedication to service. From treatment plant design and hydraulic modeling to PFAS investigations and lead service line replacement, she approaches every challenge with creativity, confidence, and care.

Beyond her professional achievements, Sarah has been a driving force within the NHWWA Young Professionals community since 2019, serving as Events Coordinator, Vice President, and now President. She is deeply committed to building inclusive, welcoming spaces, connecting young professionals with mentors, and uplifting the next generation of leaders in our industry.

Sarah’s leadership, integrity, and passion for both people and the profession are truly inspiring. We are grateful for her many contributions and excited to see all that she will continue to accomplish. Congratulations, Sarah—you are a tremendous asset to NHWWA and a well-deserving award recipient!
