Water Treatment Operator
In this position, your primary responsibilities will include the operation, monitoring, controlling, maintaining, testing and troubleshooting of the water treatment processes at our plants, booster and well stations and/or water storage facilities. Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
- Operate, monitor, control, test and troubleshoot the water treatment process at the Nashua Water Treatment Plant, a 24/7/365 operation.
- Travel assigned routes to perform routine inspection, calibration, sample collection and maintenance duties on booster stations, well stations and/or storage facilities and equipment to ensure the water systems remain working efficiently and within established standards of operation.
- Perform a variety of standardized testing and analysis to ensure optimal water quality and compliance with federal and state regulations and general water quality goals
- Travel to, inspect and maintain assigned storage tanks, dams or intake structures.
Qualifications:
Operator II – Requirements ($35.78/hour*)
- NHDES Treatment Operator Certification I
- Two years of successful operator service and deemed as fully qualified by means of training, experience, and knowledge
- First Aid Training within 12 months of hire.
- OSHA 10 Hour Card within 12 months of hire.
- Valid state driver’s license in good standing.
- Ability to work a rotating shift schedule.
Operator III – ($41.28/hour*) – eligible for consideration after two years at Pennichuck and with additional requirements:
- NHDES Treatment Operator Certification II
- Three total years of successful experience (at least two of which at Pennichuck) and deemed as fully qualified by means of training, experience, and knowledge.
- First Aid Training
*Water Treatment Plant employees scheduled to work on shifts other than first shift on weekdays (first, second, and third shift on weekends) will be paid a shift differential of $3.52 per hour.

Utilities Technician
Responsible for both the installation, repair, and maintenance of water mains, services, meters and other related appurtenances and duties related to meter reading, testing and servicing. All work is done using good safety practices and in compliance with OSHA, federal & state, and AWWA requirements.
The work schedule for this position in Monday – Friday from 7 am to 3 pm. Seasonal overtime is anticipated.

Water Treatment Technician – Merrimack Village District

Overview
The Water Treatment Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective operation and maintenance of water treatment facilities. This position involves monitoring and managing water quality, performing equipment repairs, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and needs to be skilled in operation and maintenance of industrial equipment, as well as data collection and analysis. Position to be filled in April 2026.
Duties
- Monitor and analyze water quality parameters to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Operate and maintain various water treatment equipment, including pumps, valves, and filtration systems along with general building and grounds maintenance.
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment malfunctions as needed.
- Collect data related to water treatment processes for reporting and analysis purposes.
- Utilize SCADA software to monitor system status and analyze historical trends to troubleshoot system irregularities and effectively plan for daily and seasonal water demands.
- Maintain accurate records of operations, maintenance activities, and water quality tests including chlorine residual, pH, iron and manganese.
- Collaborate with team members to improve operational efficiency and safety protocols.
Requirements
- Strong foundational knowledge in water treatment processes and practices.
- Proficiency in basic math skills for calculations related to chemical dosing, flow rates, pressure and volume.
- Proficiency in basic technology such as Windows PC and Apple iPad to be able to utilize SCADA and asset management software, to be able to complete daily workorders and data collection.
- Familiarity with logic controllers, SCADA and Asset Management is a plus.
- Ability to perform plumbing and basic mechanical tasks as required for system maintenance.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues effectively.
- Strong attention to detail for accurate data collection and reporting.
- Willingness to work in various environmental conditions.
- Ability to work outside of normal business hours, when needed and be on call on a rotational basis
- Must be able to work well independently or with a team
- Report directly to Treatment Foreman and / or Operations Manager
Job Environment:
Position may require exposure to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in this work environment is usually very loud. The position’s responsibilities are varied but follow standard routines.
Errors can result in personal injury, delay or loss of service, monetary loss, and injury to other employees, damage to buildings or equipment or legal repercussions due to a failure by the employee to take appropriate and necessary action.
The position may have occasional contact with the public.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
Must be able to stand for long periods of time and be able to crouch, climb, occasionally lift, carry, pull or push up to 100 lbs.
Must be dependable with strong work ethics, strong communication skills and willingness to positively adapt to MVD policies and procedures.
Education and Experience:
A candidate for this position should have a High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
A valid driver’s license
Experience working in water treatment or similar water related fields.
Water Treatment Operator Grade 1 License or the ability to obtain within 180 days.

Overview
The South Berwick Water District is seeking an experienced, dependable, and motivated Water Distribution Operator to join our team. This position is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of the municipal water distribution and transmission systems to ensure safe and reliable delivery of drinking water to the community.
Position Summary
A Water Distribution Operator is responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing the water distribution, transmission, and treatment systems. This includes ensuring the safe and reliable delivery of potable water to residential, commercial, and industrial customers while complying with all local, state, and federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor water distribution systems, including pumps, valves, pipelines, treatment plants, hydrants, and storage tanks
- Perform routine inspections of water lines and equipment to ensure proper function
- Install, repair, and replace service lines, meters, and hydrants
- Respond to emergency situations such as main breaks, leaks, and service interruptions
- Collect water samples and assist with testing to ensure water quality standards are met
- Read and record meters, gauges, and system data for reporting and compliance purposes
- Maintain accurate operational logs, maintenance records, and reports
- Locate and mark underground utilities before excavation
- Use hand tools, power tools, heavy equipment, and SCADA systems as needed

Water Treatment Plant Operator – City of Portsmouth

The City of Portsmouth is hiring for a dedicated and skilled Water Treatment System Operator to join the Madbury Team. This role is essential to the safe and efficient operation of the water treatment facilities. The candidate will be capable of working both independently and collaboratively, ensuring compliance with performance standards and regulatory requirements.
Starting pay rate: $25.66 – $36.24 an hour per the 1386A Working Agreement salary schedule, plus on call pay
Hours: Full Time,40 hours per week
Schedule: Monday-Friday: 7:30am-3:30pm
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants for this position must have graduated from high school or earned a graduate equivalent diploma (GED). Other experience or certification in water treatment facility operations, pumps, motors, controls, environmental science, or other skilled trade is preferred but not required. Willing to train incumbent who has limited water treatment background.
Water Operator Certification must be obtained according to the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services rules for “Minimum Education and Experience Requirements for Operators,” (Env-Dw 502.18) at the level of Grade I Treatment within 12 months of the date of original appointment and the level of Grade II Treatment within 36 months of the date of original appointment. Obtaining additional certification or licensing may be required.

This is a multi-faceted position dealing with the financial aspects of our department as well as the day-to-day interactions with the public and customers. Examples of duties that will be required are as follows: processing accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing, processing of water and sewer payments, answering phones and assisting customers coming into the office, etc.
The successful candidate will have:
