The Town of Wolfeboro, Department of Water and Sewer Utilities is seeking applications for the position of Foreman of Water & Sewer Division. The individual will be responsible for a variety of tasks within the division – management, supervision, and accomplishment of related objectives and activities.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
- Oversee all the maintenance and repair work of the water & sewer system.
- Prepares, maintains and/or oversees all department paperwork, logs, service orders and records.
- Manages public relations for the department; responds to questions and complaints from the public and contractors. Tracks down and repairs leaks in the water system.
- Orders parts and materials.
- Identifies areas of improvement needed within the Works to improve efficiency within the department.
- Organizes and prioritizes workload; assigns work; and trains new Works with and collaborates with private contractors on upgrading projects.
- Possesses responsibility for 9 sewer pumping stations and 3 water stations. Performs all duties of water & sewer workers as needed as a working supervisor.
- Cleans and maintains shop, trucks and equipment used; may make repairs on Strictly adheres to all safety and security rules and regulations.
- Ability to be on call periodically, for emergencies or as requested is required.
Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates.
This position will be filled with a highly motivated individual willing to perform the above duties and more. This individual should have a high school diploma or equivalency and have extensive experience in water distribution and sewer operations and maintenance.
Education, Training and Experience:
High School Diploma with applicable technical training. Minimum of five (5+) years of experience in water, wastewater or construction industry with at least two (2+) years in supervisory capacity in operations preferably in the public sector working with local government, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid New Hampshire Commercial Driver’s License, NHDES Grade II Water Distribution Certification, Grade I Water Treatment Operator’s Certificate and Backflow Prevention Device Inspector/Tester are required or the ability to obtain them.

Position Purpose:
This position performs professional and supervisory work in the overall workflow and day-to-day maintenance of the Water distribution systems for the Town of Wolfeboro, NH. This role ensures quality standards and is responsible for maintaining and improving upon the efficiency and effectiveness of all areas under his/her direction and control. Performs all other related work as required.
Essential Functions:

- Ensures the safety of Water Distribution and other department employees at all times; strictly enforces all safety rules and regulations.
- Maintains and repairs water pumps as well as other equipment associated with the distribution system.
- Flushes fire hydrants according to the established flushing plan.
- Repairs/Maintain fire hydrants; as well as paint and clear all snow, ice, and vegetation around them.
- Receives and completes daily work orders.
- Distributes disconnect notices for non-payment.
- Turns on/off water services for repairs, non-payment or seasonal service.
- Communicates with customers and maintains good public relations.
- Keeps work records, maintains logs and equipment related to work functions.
- Checks water stations and sewer stations to ensure proper operation and perform maintenance.
- Maintains building and grounds at water stations and sewer which includes snow removal and mowing.
- Ensures trucks are equipped with materials and tools for emergencies/general repairs.
- Ability to be on call periodically for emergencies or as requested or required.
- Work together with other department personnel and assist the highway with plowing.
- Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates.
Education, Training and Experience:
High School Diploma /GED equivalent, NH Grade I Water Distribution Certification and a Valid New Hampshire Driver’s License are required or the ability to obtain them. Electrical/Mechanical/Plumbing background and/or vocational trade courses are highly desirable.

Assistant Chief Plant Operator- Wastewater, Portsmouth, NH

Position performs responsible technical process control and supervisory work in the daily maintenance of the City’s water and/or wastewater infrastructure. Provides for the proper functioning of the facilities. Acts as Chief Plant Operator in the absence of Chief.
Minimum Required Qualifications: A candidate for this position must have graduated from high school; or equivalent (GED). An Associate’s Degree in Environmental Science; Engineering; Industrial Technology; or a related field is preferred. Five (5) years of experience in the operations and maintenance of a water and/or wastewater treatment facility or related field. Three (3) years of experience in a supervisory capacity. Qualifying education experience may count for some of this experience.
Hold a current New Hampshire Water or Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators Grade III license (or the equivalent from another state). Obtaining additional certification or licensing may be required.

Water Distribution Operations – Water Utility Field Technician – Merrimack Village District

Job Summary and Responsibilities: The Merrimack Village District is accepting applications for the position of a full-time Distribution Water Utility Field Technician. The applicant will be required to perform skilled tasks and operate & maintain a variety of light and heavy equipment for maintenance and repair of District owned property and infrastructure to include water mains, hydrants, unidirectional flushing, water meters and backflow device testing. Candidates must also be able to follow oral and written instructions; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, contractors and the public; the ability to understand rules and regulations and comply with safety practices.
Requirements: Candidates for this position must have High School diploma or equivalent, have three (3) to five (5) years of experience in utility and/ or other similar work, a valid Commercial Driver’s License, Class A preferred; Water Distribution Grade I Certification from New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services or ability to obtain within 120 days of hire. Must possess basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Outlook & Word. Experience with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system, Geographic Information System (GIS) and Elements Asset Management software preferred. Required to work in adverse weather conditions, availability after hours, weekends and holidays for On-Call rotation and as needed.
